Woman says shooters opened fire, riddled Lithonia home with bullets

Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach counted dozens of bullet holes in the family's condo off Fairington Ridge Circle in Lithonia.

A woman said she and her family had to dive for cover when someone opened fire on their condominium, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said she, her husband and their son were sleeping in their condo on Fairington Ridge Circle in Lithonia about 1:45 a.m. Monday when bullets started flying through the back wall.

She said two shooters sprayed their home with bullets that hit every wall and every window, Channel 2 reported.

DeKalb County police found more than 20 shell casings at the back of the home, according to an incident report obtained by AJC.com. An officer saw bullet holes in the walls and ceiling, the report said.

“The armoire has the bullets, the mirror was shot up, all of the windows are shattered,” the woman told the news station.

The woman said no one was hurt. She told Channel 2 she believes the shooters targeted their home by mistake.

She said one of the only things that was not damaged was a sign hanging on the outside wall right where the bullets came in, Channel 2 reported. The sign reads: “Blessed.”

“It could have only been God,” she said. “It was only that one sign on the wall that wasn’t touched.”

DeKalb police are investigating the incident.
