DeKalb County police are asking for the public’s help in trying to identify a gunman who shot and killed a woman during an apparent robbery attempt at a convenience store early Friday morning.

Shaneku McCurty, 25, was shot at about 1 a.m. at the Chevron Food Mart on Redan Road at South Indian Creek Drive.

McCurty had gone inside the store to make a purchase and was confronted by several suspects.

Police told Channel 2 Action News that McCurty resisted the would-be robbers and was shot several times. She later died at a local hospital.

“The suspects arrived at the location prior to the shooting in what we believe to be a white 2003-2007 Nissan or Infiniti,” DeKalb police Capt. Frank Braun said in an email.

Braun said one suspect was wearing a red hooded shirt and red pants and another occupant of the car was wearing an orange Polo-style shirt with a yellow stripe and the number “2” on the right sleeve.
