A woman was hit walking her daughter to school Thursday morning, causing traffic delays near Indian Creek Elementary School in DeKalb County, according to a school district official.

Quinn Hudson, a spokesman for the DeKalb County School District, said the mother was struck by a vehicle as she used a crosswalk at the Indian Creek school. The child was not harmed, but the mother was taken to DeKalb Medical Center with a head laceration.

A school resource officer cited the driver for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Hudson said.

North Indian Creek Drive was blocked at the school, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported just after 7 a.m. The road has since reopened, but delays were still being reported just before 8:30 a.m.

No other details, including the condition of the pedestrian, were available.
