A woman was shot in the face in Hall County and is in critical condition, authorities said.

Yanira Smith-Rodriguez, 37, was shot just before midnight Wednesday outside of a home in the 1200 block of Marlow Drive, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Smith-Rodriguez and a man were in a vehicle in front of the home when an unknown male ran up, shot her and left the scene, the release said. A motive has not been determined.

She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The sheriff’s office said Friday she is stable and in the intensive care unit.

The male companion in the car was not hurt, the release said.
