The woman accused of triggering a fatal Friday night crash involving three tractor-trailers has been released from the Gwinnett County jail.
Lisseth Alvarado, 39, was arrested following the crash near the Hamilton Mill Road exit on I-85 south in Gwinnett. Jail records show she was released Saturday afternoon after posting $7.650 bond for charges including misdemeanor vehicular homicide, following too close and improper lane change.
Truck driver Gianna Darden, a 36-year-old Calhoun resident, died in the crash.
According to Gwinnett County police, Alvarado was driving her Toyota Corolla when, around 9:45 p.m., she “misjudged the speed and distance of the vehicles in front of her,” hit her brakes and swerved into the right lane. She lost control and a tractor-trailer hit the side of the Corolla.
A second tractor-trailer swerved onto the right shoulder, and a third tractor-trailer, driven by Darden, did the same. Darden’s vehicle slammed into the truck in front of him, ejecting him from the vehicle. He died as a result of his injuries.
Jail records list Alvarado as a resident of Farmingdale, N.Y.
