Police in Smyrna have charged a woman with voluntary manslaughter in the death of a 65-year-old man who was running away from an attack.

Poursha Rainey is charged in the death of Roy Solomon, according to a Cobb County arrest warrant.

Investigators were sent to the area of Windy Hill Road and South Cobb Drive about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, AJC.com previously reported. Solomon was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, according to Smyrna police spokesman Sgt. Louis Defense.

Smyrna investigators said Rainey hired Solomon to move her out of her home, according to the warrant. However, she did not pay for the service because she was unhappy with it, the warrant said.

When Solomon returned a U-Haul to a location on South Cobb Drive, Rainey confronted him about a missing key and debit card and accused him of stealing the items, the warrant said.

At some point, she said she was “calling her ‘brothers’” to deal with Solomon.

Solomon walked to a Subway restaurant on Windy Hill Road and called his daughter, the warrant said. He asked her to call a car service to take him home.

Rainey then arrived in her car and three men joined in the confrontation, according to the warrant. At some point, the men beat up Solomon, the warrant said.

Solomon stood up and tried to run away from the attackers, the warrant said. That’s when he was hit by a car.

Investigators said Rainey picked up the alleged attackers and drove away. Police are still looking for the three men.

Rainey was booked Tuesday into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, where she remains with no bond.
