An apple pie from McDonald’s costs $1.06, but Covington police records show the dessert ultimately cost one woman much more than that.
Ana Guity-Baltazar, 42, was arrested and banned from McDonald’s after arguing with a restaurant manager and employee over how long it took to cook the pie, police said.
According to a police report obtained Monday by AJC.com, the altercation happened Feb. 17 in the drive-thru of the McDonald’s on U.S. 278. Restaurant employees told Guity-Baltazar it would take a few minutes to cook the pie, the report said. Employees told police Guity-Baltazar became irate.
When a Covington police officer arrived at the restaurant, he saw Guity-Baltazar’s black Nissan Maxima at the drive-thru window. The manager on duty, Alysia Burney, was waiting at the entrance doorway.
“I could hear Burney saying to me, ‘Yeah, here she is, take her, go ahead to jail, baby,’ as she was pointing at the vehicle,” Sgt. Allan Seebaran said in the report.
The officer said Guity-Baltazar got out of her car and walked up to Burney with her fist clenched.
“She very quickly approached her saying, ‘I want to press charges,’” he said.
Seebaran tried to get Guity-Baltazar’s attention and stop the altercation. According to the report, she pointed at him and said, “hold on.”
“Guity-Baltazar then got approximately two feet from Burney,” and yelled at her, Seebaran said.
Guity-Baltazar was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct and booked into the Newton County Jail.
Guity-Baltazar is no longer allowed at the Covington McDonald’s; if she pays it a visit, she’ll be arrested on a charge of trespassing.
It is unclear if she ever got the pie.
