A wheelchair-bound man who required full-time care has been convicted in Fulton County for murdering his live-in caretaker in 2015.

Anthony Thompson, 63, a nine-time felon, was sentenced to life in prison plus 10 years for the murder of 47-year-old Wayne Sapp, who continued to work for the man and live with him even after his insurance company terminated the caregiver agreement.

In December 2015, Thompson apparently “grew tired” of Sapp and believed he was unplugging appliances to harass him, according to a news release from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Around 9 a.m. on Dec. 9, Sapp’s cousin entered the home and found Thompson holding a silver revolver, the release said. After firing a warning shot toward Sapp, Thompson followed the man outside and fatally shot him in the chest.

Thompson was arrested later that day and confessed to the crime, the release said.

In addition to murder, Thompson was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He had 15 prior arrests and nine felony convictions in DeKalb County, Arizona, California and New Orleans dating to 1976.
