Authorities are searching for a 21-year-old man who allegedly pepper-sprayed a driver in the face before stealing his car at a DeKalb County gas station.

DeKalb police told AJC.com they identified Jevon Jackson as the car thief, and warrants for his arrest have been obtained. He’s wanted on charges of armed robbery and theft by deception.

Surveillance video of the Sunday morning incident shows a white Hyundai Elantra waiting at the Texaco off North Decatur Road. A man is seen driving to the gas pump. Within five seconds of getting out of his black 2016 Ford Fusion, the 30-year-old man is covered in a cloud of pepper spray.

The driver runs away, and the robber chases him to get the car keys, the video shows. The victim then hands over the keys, and the thief promptly takes off in the victim’s car.

A second suspect drove off in the Hyundai, but police are working to identify him. A photo of the second suspect was provided by police.
