A lengthy car chase, 40 traffic citations and an alleged assault on officers led to the Thursday arrest of a Floyd County man.

Anzriell Antipatris Smith, 22, was allegedly involved in a chase with police around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Rome-News Tribune reported. Deputies started chasing Smith on Shorter Avenue in his Nissan Altima and were soon joined by county police and the Georgia State Patrol, the newspaper reported.

After several minutes, authorities executed a PIT maneuver, causing Smith to drive down an embankment near a convenience store. He then got out and ran into the woods and wasn’t located until the next day.

Police did not give specifics about his arrest or what led to the chase.

He is being held without bond in the Floyd County Jail on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault on an officer, fleeing an officer and other traffic violations, online jail records show.
