Thieves smashed their way into dozens of cars in at least three different locations in Buckhead overnight.
Hardest-hit was The Terraces at Peachtree at the corner of Peachtree Road and Biscayne Drive.
At least 30 cars, including a vintage Rolls Royce, were broken into in the parking lot of the 96-unit condominium building, according to Chris Watkins, president of the homeowner’s association.
“The only thing I’ve heard that was taken was a laptop, and maybe some cell phones and things like that,” said Watkins, whose Ford Expedition was among the vehicles damaged.
He said surveillance video showed five or six suspects “mostly just digging through stuff and moving pretty fast.”
The same parking lot was hit by thieves about four year ago, Watkins said, “but not this many cars.”
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said investigators believe the same group of suspects, who were traveling in a gold Honda CRV, a black sports utility vehicle and a gray van, are believed to have also broken into seven vehicles at the Elle of Buckhead apartments on Pharr Road and two cars in the 2600 block of Peachtree Road.
All of the break-ins occurred between 2:50 and 3:10 a.m. Tuesday.
Jones said detectives collected blood samples left on one of the vehicles, and the suspects dropped a flashlight at one of the crime scenes.
