A simple exchange of words may have led to a shooting that killed a 23-year-old Stone Mountain man inside his home last week, according to a police report.

Chauntevious Pritchett was playing video games when three men forced him to the ground and shot and killed him at his home Friday afternoon.

Pritchett let the three men inside after they’d knocked on his window, according to a DeKalb County police report, but he was upset they didn’t call before coming to his home.

A witness told police Pritchett and the men “exchanged words,” but that he didn’t think it’d escalate.

Soon after, police say the men told Pritchett to “lay it down,” before one of the men held him down and two others shot him multiple times. They then left the scene.

The relationship between the gunmen and Pritchett is not known.

Witnesses could not provide a concrete description of the men aside from they were wearing dark clothing. One witness said the men had been in the area before.

Anyone with information is asked to call DeKalb County police. Tipsters can also remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting crimestoppersatlanta.org.
