All charges against a University of Georgia student who posted an anonymous threat of violence on social media last fall may soon be dropped.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports Ariel Omar Arias, who posted a warning on the anonymous social media application Yik Yak on Sept. 19 for students to stay away from the Zell B. Miller Learning Center "if you want to live," was accepted into a pretrial diversion program last week.

Arias, 20, was charged with four counts of making terroristic threats for creating the post, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison for each count. He was also suspended from UGA on an interim basis for the incident, which caused UGA police to evacuate the building.

If Arias completes the pretrial diversion program, all charges against him would be dismissed, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.
