Atlanta police are investigating a woman’s claim that an Uber driver picked her up from a Buckhead bar and sexually assaulted her.

About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a call about an alleged sexual assault in the 200 block of West Wieuca Road, Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah said.

The woman told police she was with a group of friends at the Park Bench bar when she decided to call an Uber for a ride home.

Instead of taking her home, the driver allegedly drove her to Chastain Park.

“The victim stated that after a short while, the driver sexually assaulted her,” Hannah said. “He then pushed her out of the vehicle at the Galloway School after she scratched him.”

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where investigators conducted a follow-up investigation.

Atlanta police officers have not said if the Uber driver has been arrested or brought in for questioning.

“The investigation is currently underway,” Hannah said. “As more information becomes available we will advise.”

Uber spokeswoman Susan Hendrick said the company is investigating the matter.

“We are trying to track down the facts,” she said.
