DeKalb County police Wednesday were investigating an overnight shooting at a home off Covington Highway that left two people critically wounded.

The shooting happened on West Austin Court.

One of the victims was driven by a friend to a QuikTrip on Covington Highway, where he sought help from an off-duty police officer, Channel 2 Action News reported.

When police went to the house where the shooting happened, they found a second person who had been shot in the face, DeKalb police Sgt. Steven Dean told Channel 2.

Dean said a group of guys were making too much noise inside the house and the homeowner threw them out, “and that’s when an argument broke out and the shooter started to shoot at the two victims.”

The sergeant told Channel 2 the shooting “may have been over some purchasing of some type of weapons.”

Both shooting victims were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
