A shooting suspect was arrested Friday after authorities received a tip through Crime Stoppers, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Deante Hall, 36, of Covington, was taken into custody in Conyers in connection with the shooting death of Tony Butler, 39, in Newton County, sheriff’s spokeswoman Cortney Morrison said.

After the tip was received Friday morning, several agencies staked out a house on Hunting Creek Drive in Conyers, Channel 2 reported. Hall was arrested without incident.

Officers were dispatched July 6 to a Gross Lake Parkway location in response to a person shot. While officers were en route, the dispatcher described a car that was possibly involved, Morrison said. Rockdale County sheriff’s deputies located the car and conducted a traffic stop.

A man with a gunshot wound was inside and was identified as Butler. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
