A man is in jail after Clayton County police said he hit a pedestrian with his car and kept driving.

Vince Alfonzo Harvey, 32, of East Point, is facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, in connection with the death of Nedrick Bellard.

Police were sent to the 500 block of Ga. 138 in Jonesboro on Saturday after receiving a call that a man was hit by a silver Cadillac that left the scene. Bellard was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, authorities said.

Police received a tip Wednesday that a silver Cadillac was being repaired at a home less than a mile away from where the collision happened. Authorities said a unit was sent to the home and found a car with visible damage matching evidence from the fatal pedestrian hit-and-run.

Harvey admitted to being the driver involved in the incident. He is in the Clayton County Jail, where his bond has not been set.
