A man was fatally shot in east Athens late Tuesday morning, according to Athens Banner-Herald.

Daiymeyan Darrele Stevens, 29, was shot shortly after 11 a.m. and died soon after being taken to Athens Regional Medical Center, the newspaper reported.

He is the second homicide victim in Athens within three days.

There have now been three homicides in Athens in 2016. The first occurred in April when 28-year-old Andrea Christine Harris was stabbed to death at a homeless camp north of the Boulevard neighborhood. Isaac Lee Johnson, 56, was charged with malice murder for Harris’ death.

Anyone with information on Stevens’ homicide is asked by police to call them at (706) 546-5900.
