A 27-year-old known in online circles as “ThePedoMan” is headed to federal prison for possessing child pornography, authorities said.
John McCurdy of Loganviile was sentenced to 41 months after investigators found he viewed hundreds of lewd images and videos involving children, the Department of Justice said Thursday.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the GBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
McCurdy admitted in court that he’d been looking at child porn since he was 14 years old and said he used an encrypted network to access the material, federal prosecutors said.
He pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography and was sentenced on Wednesday.
“The victimization of a child doesn’t end when that child’s pornographic images are recorded,” said Chris Hacker, special agent with the FBI’s Atlanta’s office. “Every time an individual like McCurdy possesses those images and views them for personal gratification, that child is victimized again, and again. The FBI will always make it a priority to protect our most vulnerable assets, our children.”
