After searching for more than 24 hours, authorities found the body of the construction crew member who fell into the Savannah River on Wednesday, several news outlets reported.

About 7:30 p.m. Thursday, a fisherman spotted the body in the river, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources told news station WSAV-TV. The worker was identified as William Krautwalk, 37, of Richmond Hill.

Two workers fell into the river near the Garden City Terminal on Wednesday, and one of them was pulled from the water shortly after, AJC.com previously reported. Crews searched underneath a barge for the other worker, and the search turned into a recovery mission Thursday morning, Savannah Fire and Rescue said.

The Georgia Ports Authority said the workers were contracted to make dock renovations. The agency provided a statement after Krautwalk’s body was recovered.

“Our hearts and prayers out to the family and friends of the victim,” the agency said.
