Two former Forsyth County students allegedly stole a pair of Air Jordan sneakers from a classmate using an air pistol, officials said.
Dominic Singh, 17, and Joseph Weatherford, 16, were indicted this month on armed robbery and other charges in connection with the Jan. 29 incident, an official said.
The victim said the suspects came to see his sneakers, which can have a retail price of $250 or more, sheriff’s spokesman Douglas Rainwater said.
The victim got into Weatherford’s car and drove around the neighborhood, according to deputies. The victim said Singh pulled out a black revolver, aimed it at his face and demanded the sneakers.
Singh actually was holding an air pistol that “had the appearance of an offensive weapon,” according to the indictment.
Singh was wearing the shoes when deputies pulled the car over, Rainwater said. Officers found the air pistol under the front passenger seat.
Deputies also found alprazolam, the generic name for Xanax, and marijuana in the car, according to the indictment.
Singh last attended Forsyth Academy in November 2016 as a 10th grader, according to district spokeswoman Jennifer Caracciolo. Weatherford last was enrolled in the system in February as a ninth-grader at North Forsyth High.
