Two teenagers were arrested on murder charges in connection with the Saturday morning shooting of a 15-year-old who was discovered inside a stolen car in southwest Atlanta, police said.

Damone Blalock, 17, was arrested Tuesday along Clifton Street near Crim High School and charged with the murder of Jamari Holmes, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said. Another 15-year-old who was not identified turned himself in at police headquarters and was transferred to the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center.

Holmes was discovered inside an apartment complex along Mount Zion Road about 4:45 a.m. Saturday. Investigators said the teen, who was shot once in the head, was wearing an ankle monitor in the front seat of a blue Dodge Charger that was reported stolen out of Cobb County overnight.

Police described the teen as a “known gang member” with a history of criminal activity.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
