Four teens were arrested on theft and gang charges after allegedly stealing a car parked at a downtown Conyers gas pump and leading police on a chase.

Surveillance footage obtained by Channel 2 Action News appears to show one of the teens enter a car that was left running at a Shell Station on West Avenue. Both cars then took off.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday, Conyers police Capt. Jackie Dunn told Channel 2.

Shortly after the car was stolen, an officer spotted the vehicle at a different gas station, and a pursuit ensued. The chase was eventually called off for the safety of other drivers on the road, Dunn said.

What the teen driving the car didn’t know is that it was equipped with a tracking device, police said. Later that day, Atlanta police spotted the car and chased it until it crashed, the news station reported.

About 12 hours after the car was stolen, four teens were taken into custody: 17-year old Sedric Wynn, 18-year-old Tyshawn Pitts, 19-year-old Dwight Henderson and 17-year-old Jamil Alls.

Wynn has also been connected to the carjacking of a 76-year-old woman behind her business a week earlier, authorities said.

All four suspects remain held at the Rockdale County jail without bond, records show.
