An off-duty Stone Mountain police officer has been placed on administrative leave while authorities investigate a road rage incident that involved her son pulling her department-issued gun and aiming it at a driver.
Diane Sinclair faces aggressive driving and reckless conduct charges after a confrontation in Newton County with driver Randy Foster, Channel 2 Action News reported. Her son, Terrence Sinclair, 17, faces assault and weapons charges.
Foster told Channel 2 the altercation began when a mattress fell off his car into the path of Diane Sinclair’s car. Words were exchanged and Terrence Sinclair pulled his mom’s gun out of the car and aimed it at Foster.
“The gun came about when our cars were touching each other,” Foster told the news station. “You never know what a person is going to do when they’re holding a pistol, holding a weapon.”
Foster got in his car and took off. They then followed him to a gym, where Terrence Sinclair pulled the gun on him again.
Foster’s uncle, Gerald Evans, then convinced the teen to put the gun down.
“I can laugh about it now,” Foster said, “but at the time it was no joke.”
