Suspect in Union City murder caught

After more than two weeks on the run, a man suspected of shooting a woman found dead in a Union City motel room earlier this month has been caught, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Jennifer Ann Gatewood, 25, was found dead at the Garden Inn and Suites around 4:30 a.m. April 5.

Arrest warrants were issued that same day for Irwin Clint Dresbach, 32, and his mother, Lola Connie Stephens-Smith. Dresbach was Gatewood's boyfriend, Union City police Capt. Michael Jones said. The mother turned herself in, is cooperating in the investigation, and will not likely be charged, he said.

Dresbach was found late Monday night at a hotel near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and taken into custody without incident, U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Jim Joyner said. He is in the Fulton County Jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to online jail records, the arrest marked the 11th time Dresbach has been booked into the Fulton County Jail.
