A witness to a fatal shooting at Clayton State University has been identified as a suspect in a January home invasion in northwest Atlanta that left his accomplice dead.

Larenzo Marcel Drayton, 26, of Atlanta, is wanted on a charge of murder in connection with the death of David Freeman, the FBI said Thursday.

Freeman, also 26, was shot and killed Jan. 21 as he and Drayton allegedly tried to rob a woman inside her Harwell Road apartment.

According to FBI Atlanta spokesman Kevin Rowson, Drayton and Freeman entered the apartment “displaying guns.” The woman who lived in the residence pulled out her own weapon and opened fire, AJC.com previously reported. Freeman was found dead inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest.

After the shooting, Drayton sped away in a car driven by G’Andre Wash, the FBI said Thursday in a statement. Wash was booked in the Fulton County Jail on March 12 on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and murder, jail records show.

According to Georgia law, a person can be charged with murder when “in the commission of a felony, he or she causes the death of another human being irrespective of malice.”

This is not the first time authorities have asked the public to help them track down Drayton. The GBI identified him as a witness to the deadly shooting at Clayton State University, which occurred Nov. 9, 2015, at the Clayton Station Apartments.

At the time, the agency said Drayton was critical to helping them “resolve this investigation.” It was not clear Thursday if the case was ever solved.
