The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is trying to find a witness to a killing at Clayton State University.
The agency believes Larenzo Marcey Drayton, 23, of Hampton, witnessed the Nov. 9 shooting death of Ty’ron Davis at the Clayton Station Apartments, Special Agent in Charge Brian Whidby said in an email.
Campus police answered a 911 call about gunshots and found Davis lying in the breezeway of the apartment building. He died at Southern Regional Medical Center.
Davis, 23, was not a student at the school, nor was he related to one, as was previously suggested by authorities. Why he was on campus and what immediately preceded his death remain unclear.
Drayton is currently being sought as a witness, and the GBI is asking for the public’s help in locating him, the agency said in a statement. He owns a silver 2015 Chrysler 200 bearing Georgia tag number CDR3869, the agency said.
The GBI asks that Drayton or anyone knowing his whereabouts contact Special Agent Jeff Hatchett at 770- 388-5019, or the GBI Tip Line at 800-597-8477. Calls will be kept confidential.
