Gas station surveillance video shows a man stepping out of a silver, four-door sedan and putting what appears to be a black handgun into the waistband of his tan or white pants.

Atlanta homicide investigator Lt. Charles Hampton said the video recorded outside a Shell gas station on Whitehall Street shows four people who were “in close proximity” to the shooting of a 36-year-old man early Sunday.

“Hopefully, they’ll call us on their own to let us know what they saw,” Hampton said.

William Respress Jr. was outside the gas station arguing with a small group when a car carrying four men pulled up, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. The 36-year-old man was shot multiple times and died just outside the station's front doors.

“I know a lot of people feel like they don’t want to get involved,” Hampton said, acknowledging that the men on video must have been close enough to see or hear something. “We need them to come forward so we can bring closure to the family.”
