A Sunday school teacher in Cobb County faces a child molestation charge after he allegedly groped a 13-year-old girl, authorities said.

George Ray Scott Jr., 64, of Marietta, was arrested last week after being accused of grabbing the child’s breast Nov. 10 while inside Covenant United Methodist Church off King Springs Road in Smyrna, according to an arrest warrant. Scott was a Sunday school teacher at the church, Cobb police spokeswoman Sydney Melton told AJC.com.

The girl told authorities about the incident during a forensic interview, adding that the encounter “felt wrong,” the warrant said. A nearby adult allegedly witnessed the incident.

Scott was arrested by the sheriff’s office Jan. 13 before being released the next day on an $11,220 bond, according to Cobb jail records.

Because the investigation involves a minor, Melton did not reveal further information.
