Police arrested a 20-year-old Smyrna man in connection with a shooting at a Cobb County apartment complex that left two men dead Wednesday.

Jeffery Welstin Smith-Hosty faces multiple charges in the shooting deaths of 23-year-old John Ogundipe of Smyrna and 22-year old Alex White of Marietta.

Just before 2:50 p.m., Cobb police responded to multiple reports of a shooting at the Cobblestone Apartment Homes on Pat Mell Road, Officer Alicia Chilton said.

“When officers arrived,” she said, “they located two males suffering from gunshot wounds inside a blue Honda outside building 351.”

One of them died at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Smith-Hosty, who was taken into custody near the scene of the shooting, is at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. He is being held there without bond on two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of armed robbery.

Police don’t suspect other people were involved in the shooting.
