An attempted carjacking at a northwest Atlanta gas station ended in gunfire Sunday afternoon.

The victim told Atlanta police he pulled out a gun when he was approached by multiple people outside the RaceTrac on the corner of Bolton Road and Marietta Boulevard. Shots were fired, according to police.

Officers were called to investigate the attempted theft and shooting about 2:20 p.m., police spokeswoman Marla Jean Rooker said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News.

“The victim advised suspects in a silver Audi SUV attempted to steal his car and fired shots at him when victim pulled out his weapon,” Rooker said. “No injuries were reported at the scene.”

The incident remains under investigation.
