A man is facing more than two dozen child exploitation charges after investigators found illicit pictures during a drug investigation, Forsyth County officials said.

Gabriel De Freitas Carvalho, 19, faces 26 counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to jail records. The Sandy Springs man was arrested Tuesday by Forsyth deputies.

De Freitas Carvalho was first charged in September 2019 in connection with a drug investigation, Forsyth sheriff’s office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater confirmed. He arranged to sell LSD and THC to undercover detectives, according to Rainwater.

Detectives arrested De Freitas Carvalho and continued their investigation, Rainwater confirmed. They obtained a warrant to search the cellphone he allegedly used to communicate with the undercover detectives.

During the investigation, detectives found 26 images depicting sexual abuse against children, according to Rainwater. Some of the alleged victims were just 3 years old, Rainwater confirmed.

The man was booked into the Forsyth jail, where he remains on a $288,880 bond, jail records show.
