Rewards totaling $10,000 are offered in connection with an apparent drive-by shooting last month in Newnan that injured two 11-year-old girls during a sleepover.

The City of Newnan as well as Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta have put up $5,000 each for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of whoever was responsible for the incident at 45 Reynolds Street, deputy Chief Mark Cooper said in a news release.

Both girls are recovering at home, Cooper said. No other details were released.

“By increasing the reward money offered, all of these organizations hope to encourage the community to become involved in the investigation and take a stand against such violent crimes in their neighborhood,” Cooper said.

On June 25, someone fired shots from outside the house into the living room and kitchen of the home, police spokeswoman Gina Snider said at the time.

Four girls in front rooms of the house heard the gunfire and ran to avoid the bullets, according to police. One was hit in the right cheek and another in the left thigh with bullets from a 9mm gun.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 770-254-2355 and ask for Sgt. J. Beneke, Lt. T. Washington or D.C. Cooper. Tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting crimestoppersatlanta.org.
