A man accused of a 2012 killing in Puerto Rico is now in custody in Clayton County, Sheriff Victor Hill said today.

Alejandro Yancy Santos, 31, a native of Puerto Rico, was arrested Tuesday by a Clayton County Sheriff's Office investigator assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, Hill said. Santos was booked into the Clayton County jail, where he is awaiting extradition.

Santos is accused of killing 28-year-old Cruz Encarnacion-Osorio on Aug. 19, 2012, in Vieques, Puerto Rico, but had eluded capture, according to the U.S. Marshals.

Santos also is charged with weapons violations and attempted murder, and his bail will be set at $1.8 million when he is returned to Puerto Rico. He has possibly been linked to other violent crimes still under investigation, U.S. Marshals said.
