A Forsyth County preschool teacher at a private school resigned after allegedly driving drunk and drinking wine behind the wheel while on Ga. 400, authorities said.
Gloria Fowler faces DUI charges after Forsyth County deputies said she was driving recklessly Sunday night and nearly hit another car, according to an incident report obtained by Channel 2 Action News.
She allegedly admitted to deputies to drinking wine while in the car.
She resigned from her position at the Montessori at Vickery school in Cumming, school spokeswoman Joann Bauer told AJC.com.
Bauer sent a statement on the incident that said, in part: “Ms. Fowler was on a leave-of-absence from work during the incident you referenced, mourning the death of her father, and has since resigned from her position at the school. Our number one priority at Montessori at Vickery is the safety of our children and the well-being of our community. We take these matters very seriously and act diligently with guidance from our state’s licensure requirements.”
AJC.com has reached out to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to try to gather more information about her charges and bond.
