A postal worker in Jackson County is accused of stealing mail and packages in the Jefferson and Pendergrass areas, authorities said Wednesday.

Kristi Leanne Miller, 34, of Jefferson, was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Sheriff Janis Mangum told AJC.com that her office received a report of someone taking mail from mailboxes on Aug. 21, which led to Miller’s arrest.

The U.S. Postal Inspectors Office assisted in the investigation. Mangum didn’t know how long Miller had been employed by the post office.
