A couple wanted for questioning about a fatal hit-and-run was found at a Tennessee home, where the man was hiding in the attic, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

Neither Justin Paul Buchanan, 31, nor his girlfriend, Kimberly Frisby, have been named suspects in the Aug. 2 crash that killed a 67-year-old man, according to Lt. Glenn Daniel. But investigators received a tip that the pair was “somehow involved” in the hit-and-run that killed Robert Stoskopf, Daniel said.

Shortly after 8 a.m. on Aug. 2, Stoskopf was found dead behind a guardrail on Thornton Road after apparently being hit by a vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Late last week, investigators tracked Buchanan and Frisby to a home in Kingsport, Tenn., and officers from the local agency and Douglas County went to the home.

Frisby answered the door and allowed officers inside, but she denied that anyone else was present and consented to a search, the Times News in Kingsport reported. When Buchanan's wallet was found on the living room couch, Frisby admitted that Buchanan was hiding in the attic, the newspaper reported.

Buchanan was arrested for violating probation from a prior case in Alabama, according to police. Both Buchanan and Frisby were questioned regarding the fatal crash, but no charges have been filed in connection to Stoskopf’s death.

Stoskopf, of Lithia Springs, was a professional violinist and teacher and a former U.S. Marine, according to his online obituary. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Sheriff's Office tip line at 678-486-1253.
