Television and driving may be just as serious and drinking and driving.

One motorist found that out while driving through an active school and construction zone watching “How I Met Your Mother” in Forsyth County, police say.

The incident happened early April 18 in a portion of Suwanee that sits in the county.

A deputy was directing traffic on Old Atlanta Road by the St. Marlo subdivision when he noticed a driver looking at his iPhone more the road, according to a police report.

The phone, positioned on a dashboard mount, was directly in front of the driver playing a television show, the deputy said.

The deputy pulled over the driver, who removed his phone from the dashboard mount, apologizing repeatedly.

“Sorry,” was all the man could say as the deputy questioned him.

The driver eventually unlocked his phone for the officer and let him look at the screen, which showed the “Slapsgiving” episode of Season 3 in the series.

“As a quick reminder for those who may not know, it is illegal to watch TV while driving down the road,” according to a post on the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.”We much prefer that you watch the road instead.”

The driver was released on a citation for reckless driving.
