A man is accused of prompting a multihour SWAT standoff in a Marietta motel room after he attacked and kidnapped a woman in a domestic-related incident.

Chonsie Lamonte Pye, 34, was arrested last Friday after the incident at the Days Inn by Wyndham at 2191 Northwest Parkway, according to Marietta police. He allegedly told the woman that he had a gun and that he wasn’t going to allow her to leave her room.

During the incident, Pye grabbed the woman by her neck, threw her into a bathtub and threw her onto the floor, according to arrest warrants. The victim suffered visible bruises.

Officers and a SWAT team responded to the scene, which took hours to resolve because Pye barricaded himself and the victim inside the room, according to police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy.

“A negotiator was brought in and after multiple hours of ongoing dialogue, the decision was ultimately made to have the SWAT team enter the room,” McPhilamy told AJC.com. “The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and two guns were located inside the room.”

Pye faces felony counts of kidnapping and false imprisonment and misdemeanor counts of obstruction and battery, according to Cobb County jail records. As of Monday afternoon, he remained in the Cobb County jail on a $11,220 bond.
