An anonymous Crime Stoppers tip led police to a Rockdale County house and a cache of weapons, drugs and cash, officials said Friday.

Tony Benton of Conyers was already a convicted felon when investigators followed him from his house Thursday and arrested him, according to a news release.

Rockdale County deputies watched as Benton met up with someone at a gas station and headed back toward his house.

When a deputy tried to pull his car over, Benton ran back to his house, where he was stopped.

In the car Benton was driving, investigators found a .45-caliber handgun and about $3,000 in cash. After getting a warrant to search the house, officials found 125 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of marijuana and more than a gram of ecstasy. They also found several guns including a Hi-Point .40-caliber carbine rifle.

Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization that partners with both media and law enforcement agencies to put criminals behind bars. Donated funds are collected to distribute to anonymous tipsters who report criminal activity or wanted fugitives.

Tips can be called in to 404-577-TIPS (8477), text CSA and information to CRIMES, or use an online form at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. The tip can result in a reward up to $2,000 and the tipster will always remain anonymous.
