Atlanta police have identified a suspect in the killing of a man outside a Moreland Avenue bar Monday afternoon.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jonathan Betts, 29, who is accused of fatally shooting De’Juan Cook, 28, outside the Driftwood Bar & Grill.

Cook was found in the parking lot at about 5 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said Tuesday. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After investigators interviewed witnesses, Betts was identified as the suspect and police began searching for him.

The incident started with a verbal altercation and turned into a fight that carried out into the parking lot, Sgt. Warren Pickard said.
