An Atlanta man arrested in connection with a Sandy Springs home invasion was involved in multiple burglaries inside and outside of the north Fulton County city, police said Tuesday.

Demarco Parham was arrested Monday after a home invasion and car theft in the 6800 block of Hunters Trace Circle.

“Detectives with Sandy Springs Police and Atlanta Police have conducted an extensive investigation and have determined that Parham was involved in multiple burglaries in the cities of Sandy Springs and Atlanta,” Sgt. Sam Worsham said in a news release.

And Parham did not work alone, police said.

“A second suspect has been identified and detectives are working on connecting him to the incidents in Sandy Springs,” Worsham said.

According to an incident report, the victim in Monday’s home invasion got an alert from his home security system that the basement door was open about midnight. His dogs started barking, and one of them stood at the top of the stairs growling, he told police.

He went to the stairs with a baseball bat and “could hear multiple people downstairs rummaging furniture,” according to the report.

That’s when he told his wife to call 911. He then heard the garage door opening and went downstairs to investigate, according to the report.

“At this time, one of the suspects fired one round at him, then ran toward the beginning of the driveway,” police said in the report.

The man, who was not struck, ran back inside the home.

He noticed a dark SUV driving away as “one of the suspects reopened fire at the house,” police said in the report.

He later realized the dark SUV was his blue 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Officers later recovered the Jeep and charged Parham with home invasion, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft.

“Evidence from multiple burglaries was recovered as well as the handgun used in the home invasion on Hunters Trace Circle,” Worsham said.

Parham now faces additional charges, which police have not detailed yet.
