Police released the name Friday of the man who was shot and killed Thursday evening in Jonesboro.

Rodney Jones Jr., 36, was found wounded and unresponsive when Clayton County police responded around 5:45 p.m. to a call of someone shot in the 6700 block of Tara Boulevard, according to a news release Friday.

Jones was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said in the release.
