Police arrested a second suspect Tuesday in connection with the murder of an 81-year-old woman.
Dominique Lamonta Bryant was apprehended by police and U.S. Marshals and taken to the Fulton County Jail, according to Atlanta Police Wednesday.
Bryant is being charged with felony murder in the July 27 killing of Mildred Martin, who died on her front porch after a stray bullet hit her in the back.
Police were called around 11 p.m. to the 900 block of Proctor Street , where they found Martin shot to death on her porch. She had been playing the card game two-handed spades with a neighbor when a stray bullet came through the porch’s screen and struck her, police said.
Bryant is the second person police have arrested in connection with Martin's death. Johnny Maurice Avery, 30, of Atlanta, was arrested last Thursday, charged with felony murder and booked into the Fulton County Jail.
Avery was released in March after serving nearly five years in jail for child molestation, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was also previously convicted of false imprisonment, and was in and out of jail several times between 2007 and 2010.
Avery was denied bond and remains in the Fulton County Jail along with Bryant.
