Police in Bartow County are investigating a reported kidnapping and rape that took place near Taylorsville, a small community 50 miles northwest of Atlanta.
According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, a 34-year-old woman was accosted Thursday evening after leaving the Dollar General Store on Ga. 113. The woman reported that she was driving to her home in Rockmart when she was attacked by a man who had hidden in her vehicle.
The woman said the man used the seat belt to strangle her and force her to pull off the road. She said she was forced into the rear of the vehicle and sexually assaulted.
Along with the sexual assault, the woman suffered face and neck injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
