Roswell police are investigating after a 5-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by two children at a day camp hosted by the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The investigation began when a the boy complained to his mother about discomfort after he arrived home from the camp one day last week. The mother took her son to the hospital, where doctors told her there was possible sexual abuse, according to Channel 2.

Roswell police are investigating the incident at the city-run camp.

“After 15 years with this department and having two children of my own that participate in camps and programs, I am confident in the quality of our programs,” the camp director said in a statement to Channel 2. “(We) take our jobs and your children very seriously and want each of you to know that your children are treated as our own.”
