Fulton County Police said they are still trying to identify who was responsible for a 10-year-old boy being shot during a vigil Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Chaz Evans, said Lt. Scott McBride.

“We do not have any suspect information to release at this time,” McBride said.

Security guards on Wednesday were posted in a south Fulton County neighborhood where Chaz was hit by a stray bullet during a vigil at the Sierra Townhomes on Godby Road. It happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Channel 2 Action News reported.

An altercation during the vigil escalated, shots were fired and a bullet went through a wall, according to Channel 2. The boy was struck in the arm. He is expected to recover. Police originally said the boy was 12 years old.

Police asked anyone with any information about the shooting to call 404-613-6600.
