Bibb County sheriff's deputies have identified a man shot and killed by a homeowner Friday night.

Brandon Deon Jackson, 21, of Macon, was shot and killed by the owner of a home on Woodrow Place after an incident on the homeowner’s property, Lt. Randy Gonzalez said in an email.

Before the shooting, Jackson and his girlfriend were involved in an incident at the Beauty Queen 98 Cents Store on Mercer University Drive, Gonzalez said. While security was investigating that incident, Jackson ran away from the store, Gonzalez said. Security officers chased him, but they lost sight of him on Woodrow Place.

The owner of the home reported hearing a loud crash outside his bedroom window. When he went to investigate, he said he saw Jackson coming from behind the home. He asked Jackson to stop, but Jackson continued approaching, Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said the homeowner then shot and killed Jackson.

No charges have been filed and the incident is still under investigation.
