Gwinnett County deputies arrested an armed robbery suspect hiding under the deck of a Lawrenceville home after leading  them on a four-hour manhunt Friday, authorities said.

Deputies tried to pull over Alfonso Hidalgo and arrest him Friday morning, but Hidalgo sped off, wrecking his car near Camp Perrin Road and Cedar Drive before running into some nearby woods, police said.

The 28-year-old, who was wanted on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges, was arrested hours later when a homeowner called 911 and reported seeing a suspicious man climb the fence into a neighbor’s yard.

According to police, Hidalgo was discovered hiding under a deck in the backyard after allegedly breaking into the home and helping himself to a set of clothes “in an attempt to disguise his appearance.”

Hidalgo has a lengthy rap sheet that includes previous charges of burglary, battery, obstruction, marijuana sales, running from police and probation violation, jail records show.

He remains held in the Gwinnett County jail without bond.
