Police: Florida man spent more than $5K on work credit card for gambling

A man in Florida has been accused by his boss of spending more than $5,000 on a company’s credit card without permission to gamble at a track and casino facility.

The owner of Freshwater Electrics reported to police that Jayrol Abrego, 34, made seven unauthorized charges on the credit card at the Palm Beach Kennel Club, totaling $5,731.95, according to the police report.

Detectives went to the Kennel Club to obtain surveillance video and captured Abrego using the card to withdraw cash. Freshwater was able to identify his employee in the video and told police that the credit card is supposed to be used for gas and company supplies only.

Police arrested Abrego, who admitted to officers that he knowingly used the card without permission. He was charged with grand theft and is being held on a $21,000 bond at the Palm Beach County Jail.
